Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Grassroots Outreach and Public Awareness Program

On 3rd August 2026, I attended the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Grassroots Outreach and Public Awareness Program held at Kasarani, Nairobi. The primary objective of the event was to educate members of the public on the mandate of KRA, the importance of taxation in national development, and the need for compliance with the country’s tax laws and regulations.

During the session, KRA officials sensitized citizens on taxpayer rights and responsibilities, tax compliance procedures, and the role of taxes in financing essential public services and national development. The interactive engagement also provided an opportunity for participants to seek clarification on various tax-related matters. To promote public participation and awareness, KRA distributed branded merchandise, including T-shirts, to many of the attendees.

The outreach was highly informative and enriched my understanding of public administration, governance, and citizen engagement. As a student of International Relations and Diplomacy, the experience enabled me to appreciate the importance of effective public institutions, civic education, and tax compliance in fostering sustainable development and strengthening the relationship between the government and its citizens.

Overall, the program enhanced my practical knowledge of public policy implementation and demonstrated the value of community outreach in promoting accountability, transparency, and informed citizen participation.
